As I have been praying and soaking in the prayer room I have been making time to study the, “Beauty Realm”, found in Revelation 4 and 5. I feel like in order to get a greater understanding of the One that I am worshiping, that it would be wise to meditate and feed on the scriptures that describe Him and His throne room in heaven with the most detail. I have also been looking at Revelation 1:12-16, which gives some powerful imagery to the Glory and Splendor of Jesus. These are just some of my personal thoughts and notes so far.
* The Manner
“After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things. Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne.” Rev 4:1-2
4:1– “After these things”: After what? After the Revelation of Jesus in chapters 1-3…Being in Spirit, seeing the man Jesus in His resurrected Glory and Splendor and hearing/receiving the messages to the 7 Angels of the 7 Churches.
“I looked”: (G: horao- gives prominence to the discerning mind, the prominence being in the mental element.) What was there to look at or discern with the mind? John, was gazing, staring, trying to discern with his mind the things that he just saw and heard, “Did this really just happen!?”
“Behold”: (G: eidoto- see with the mind’s eye, signifies a clear and purely mental perception) what became clear out of the blue? WHOA, BEHOLD…
“A door standing open in heaven”: Who was speaking to John from (through) the door? “The first voice”, “The sound of a trumpet.”… It was the voice of Jesus speaking with John as heard in the previous chapters. Isn’t Jesus the door as revealed to John earlier when he walked with Jesus?
- John 10:7, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.”
- John 10:9, “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
“Come up here”: This is the invitation to the open door. The door is open to all…for a time. John saw it, because he “looked”. He was going over the Words of Jesus in his mind/heart. (G:anabainō- to ascend) He was asking John to ascend into heaven, the throne room; just as Jesus did after being crucified. It is also the same word used when Jesus said “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem”…when He knew He was to be crucified….
“I will show you”: This is the revelation that is imparted after going through the door or accepting Jesus as your Savior and Son of God. But how did John get up to the “door standing open”?
4:2– “Immediately I was in Spirit”: This is the transportation that allowed John to get to the revelation. The revelation was the Beauty Realm of the Throne Room (described in 4:2-11) what did the Spirit reveal to John after catching him up?
Truth = “I will show you”
Spirit = “I was in the Spirit”
- John 4:23-24 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
“Behold, a throne was standing in heaven”: It seems that the “door standing open in heaven” has turned into “a throne…standing in heaven.” You have to go through Jesus to get to the throne…but only His Spirit can lead you there.
- John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
“And One sitting on the throne”: There is only One sitting on the throne in Heaven, the Father God.
I would love to hear from you guys with your thoughts and feedback, and I encourage you to dive into this amazing reality that is going on in heaven right now!
